Stairway To Heaven是搖滾史上紅遍全世界的其中之一，由齊柏林飛船 ( Led Zeppelin ) 樂團的主吉他手 吉米·佩奇 ( Jimmy Page ) 製作，發行時間1971年，這首史詩級的歌曲中譯意思是「通往天堂的階梯」，有一種好像準備要去見上帝或神明的感覺，當然歌詞富含文學氣息，但是詞意本身是偏正面或負面就不太好去判斷，有人說具有正面寓意描述一位女士的膚淺虛榮、有人則說歌詞看起來像是在形容吸毒，更是有網友指出倒帶播放的Stairway To Heaven像是在歌頌崇拜撒旦，這麼有爭議性的歌曲，居然在2000年千禧年列為世界上最偉大的搖滾歌曲之一，跟多數有名氣的搖滾歌曲真的是有過之無不及。
這首歌主要分成三個段落，前奏由橫笛及木吉他演奏前半段，中半段開始加入敲擊樂，接著轉入電吉他solo (這邊Live版本的是Jimmy Page最屌的solo片段)，solo完之後進入後半段，主唱勞勃·普蘭特 ( Robert Plant ) 開始展現他的高音嗓子，後半段是最高潮的部分，整首歌的張力非常完美，雖然這首歌時間長達8分鐘，但是每個細節都絲毫不拖泥帶水，絕對膾炙人心。

「buying」這個字 ，暗示著用金錢或世俗手段去換取神聖或精神層面的救贖， 象徵歌詞中的女士過度相信物質價值，認為天堂（象徵精神自由、內在平靜或永恆幸福）可以「購買」或用外在條件換得。

最後講講最一開始的女士，整首歌詞似乎是用一種「旁觀者」的角度來描摩歌詞意境，但實際上是一種獨自告解，女士其實就是自己本身的世俗表面，往往人出社會之後，都會被迫戴上另一層面具，為了促使團隊之間的和諧穩定，即便身旁的人令你不愉快，也要維持一種氛圍，這首歌有點像80年代的 Tarzan Boy，只不過 Stairway to heaven 的歌詞更有詩意、更有層次感，這也是為什麼音樂可以歷久不衰的原因之一。
