seem、look、appear的意思都是「看起來」、「似乎」,但仍有個別差異:seem傾向描述主觀的認知或感想,appear則比較正式,傾向描述客觀的事實或印象。

 

 

1.seem, look, appear+形容詞
He seems clever.(他好像很聰明。)
He looks angry.(他看起來很生氣。)
He appears unaffected by the report.(他似乎沒受到報導影響。)

2.seem, appear+ to + 動詞,表示在這之前就發生的狀況、動作
I seem to have lost the file. Could you resend it?(我好像搞丟檔案了。你可以再寄一次嗎?)
My client seems to like this idea.(看起來我的客戶喜歡這個構想。)
He does not appear to be at the office now.(他現在好像不在辦公室。)

3.It seems like\It looks like…+整句話的敘述
It seems like they won't accept our proposition.(看來他們不會接受我們的提議。)
It looks like the meeting is going to end soon.(會議看起來快結束了。)

4.It seems that\It appears that…+整句話的敘述
It seems that I have made the wrong call.(我好像做了錯誤的決定。)
It appears that you might be right.(看起來你可能是對的。)
